The Memphis Chapter of NARPI will host Mid-America’s Reunion on April 19 – 22, 2015.   The reunion will be centered at the Holiday Inn Hotel at the University of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave, Memphis, TN, 38111.  The Hotel is an all suite venue and is offering suites at $109.00 plus taxes.   Memphis last hosted a reunion about 10 years ago in September 2004.

Then as now the unrelenting Mississippi River seems to fill Memphis with a powerful soul that overflows into the restaurants, juke joints and historic sites.   Along the Mississippi, the Memphis Pyramid will be converted to a Mega Bass Pro facility.   Mud Island features a River walk and a River Museum; music filled Beale Street has a new Riverboat Landing and the Ornamental Iron Works Museum sits on the mighty river.

Close to the river you can find the recently updated National Civil Rights Museum, the Rock and Soul Museum, the Gibson Guitar Factory, the FedEx Forum, home of the NBA’s Grizzlies, and AutoZone Park, home of the AAA Redbirds.   Memphis is also home to Elvis Presley’s Graceland, one of the most visited attractions in the land, the STAX Museum of American Soul Music and the Legendary Sun Recording Studio.   Think of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.

The St. Jude Center provides information on this internationally recognized children’s research hospital, the Memphis Zoo features Pandas.   The Pink Palace Museum features a Giant 3D Movie Theater, The Dixon Gallery & Gardens is surrounded by an English Park Garden, The Brooks Museum of Art is Tennessee’s largest and oldest art museum and the Memphis Botanic Garden boasts of 96 acres of garden.

We are planning tours to the National Civil Rights Museum, the National Mississippi River Museum, and Graceland, as well as a Backbeat Memphis Big Mojo Tour of Memphis Highlights.   This includes Beale Street, Sun Studio and the Stax Studio, featuring guides who not only tell you about the sights but play and sing Memphis hits live on the bus.   www.backbeattours.com

The green fees are $55.00 for those over age 62; the youngsters have to pay a little more. We ask those playing who have vehicles to assist by giving a ride to others in need of transportation.

Mirimichi, owned by Justin Timberlake and family, is a public golf destination that welcomes golfers, speaks to their spirit and brings players in harmony with nature. Deep-pit bunkers, elevated greens, seven pristine lakes and several waterfalls and creeks all provide more than 7,400 yards of championship-level, environmentally friendly golf. Mirimichi, meaning “place of happy retreat,” is a world-class golf course located just 15 minutes north of Downtown Memphis. Mirimichi’s rolling grass mounds, meandering creeks and scenic vistas provide a natural ambiance that creates a haven for both golfer and nature.
